My Mom would be so proud of me... wanting to meet, chat, deepen ~ as friends first! before jumping in with both feet, eyes closed, and mouth puckered up to first-kiss-position!
... Because really, with this online dating medium, once you're beyond the 'shopping catalogue' mode of looking at pictures and then emailing and meeting a few people, don't you have the old insight reinforced that it is someone's energy, personality, spirit, perhaps even soul that counts, not their looks? ... And you know you will only KNOW if you want a long term, intimate relationship with someone once you meet in person?
Of course, we all resonate and tick in different ways, but _that_ IS what I am looking for here, ultimately. And you? Can you dig friendship first and intimacy second? And close, mutual, sharing friendship and solidarity around core ideas and ideals, is a huge gift as well...
I guess you've gotten a glimpse of me through this stream-of-consciousness jam session on the topic at hand. The categories we're asked to tick off are so... categorical. So I have answered some of them a bit tongue in cheek (like: wanting to get married in a year or two; i am not against marriage and think it could be the sweetest thing, if right, but it's not necessary). And of course I am not most likely to be found at my laptop most of the time during my off hours, but let's face it, I do work full time and much of that work is done at the laptop, and here I am - on it again. But! when I can, I get on my gumboots and keep on trying to learn to be my new career goal: organic gardener/small livestock farmer! Yes, still at the dream-stage. Other favorite things to do: watch movies with some artistic merit (which can include Bollywood, I enjoy popular culture, it's not all 'dumb' - and it's most fabulous when it's both deep and accessible. Love photography, art (doing, viewing), theatre, dancing, travelling - oh yes travelling... And large animals, want to learn natural horsemanship and horse-human energy work now, just got a taste of it. I paint a little, write, network, stay socially active, across national boundaries, and teach worldmindedness, from certain perspectives. -
I see you as being some or all or quite possibly none of the qualities that follow. How much does one limit oneself by visualizing, too concretely and narrowly? But, Ok - mmmmmm - closing my eyes now, emptying my mind, to see what - who - appears. There you area! You are someone who has walked many paths - who carries yourself with ease in different situations and with many kinds of people. You are someone who likes both words and silence, travel and rootedness, working with your mind and working with your hands. You are strong enough to put your foot down, and to show your feelings; and you are flexible enough to try new things.
As to specifics -- what you do, where you are in your life -- I'd leave that a lot more open. I do hope you like to dance, eat many kinds of cuisine, explore ideas and places. That you have the ability to be loyal and want to explore deepening commitment in connection. And that you don't see a huge distinction between different paths to the divine or supreme consciousness, or a gap between the senses and the mind.

To never stop learning ever better balance, harmony, mindfulness, being in the now. To become more giving, day by day. On a concrete level, to learn how to caretake land, seeds, animals, in a permaculture ecology, and have time better balanced between indoor and outdoor work, between productive use of the old arts of sustainability and art-making, and between personal life and collective/community life. To keep contributing towards tolerance and mindfulness.

There have been so many. From the various NYTimes Bestsellers (Everything is Illuminated; the Kite Runner) to books that have stayed with me for years, like The Holder of the World. Norwegian, English, Chinese classics. Last book by a favorite novelist (Barbara Kingsolver) but it's not a novel: "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" - I ate it up. Pun intended.

... what creates and maintains richness, fertile potential, and life-enhancing satiation in the soul and in the cosmos... Give me all kinds - from all eras, and all parts of the world, but above all: give me music we sing and play ourselves, so we're not always in passive listener mode.
-
Open-mindedness; ability to 'see' people; desire to mentor, help, midwife, give of my time - an urge to merge, energetically, compassionately. (Hey - they're gonna let us go on about our best trait without addressing our worst trait? Ok, fine. But please ask about the worst trait if you're interested. I might ask about yours! :) Their existence is a given, at least in our past, even as they hopefully diminish their hold on us in our years of maturing if not - uh - fermenting.
