The Inepd Way : Fundraising from Time Poor Donors

This week I have been in Miami Florida giving trainings to our Inepd International staff in the US on Fundraising from "Time Poor Donors". Our main drive to sign up "Time Poor Donors" is during Autumn. Autumn is our key time to get new bequests before the winter flu season takes it toll. After the training sessions have finished this week. Inepd International Fundraising staff will be scouring retirement villages all up and down the coast of Florida to raise funds to support poverty development. Below our the live tweets from twitter of our training session yesterday.

Live Tweets from the Training Session
Training room is now ready, just filling up now with our Inepd Trainees here at Inepd Internationals training centre in Miami, Florida :27 Oct

Florida has one of the highest concentrations of “Time Poor Donors” in the world. :27 Oct

Have been doing training today with the Donor Services staff in the US ahead of our Autumn bequest season. :27 Oct

Just about to start the last formal training session for "Time Poor Donors". Then we will do some role plays. :27 Oct

Had a great feedback session on the training so far, with the trainees a little earlier. :27 Oct

With feedback sessions we have a large group discussion. Then if a trainee makes a criticism. We take the person aside for a 1-1 session. :27 Oct

The trainee then is able 9 times out of 10 to see that they were at fault. :27 Oct

Gema my personal assistant will be tweeting for me while I do the training and role plays.  :27 Oct

Training our fundraising staff is so important we invest a lot of time and effort to get it right. :27 Oct

Our "Time Poor Donor"program although only twelve months old is already one of our most important sources of income. :27 Oct

This last session is called: "Donor Triage, Where's the savings" I am going to hand over to Gema now. :27 Oct

Hi everyone, I'm Gema, I am going to be live tweeting the last two sessions of @InepdMercedes training here. :27 Oct

I am @InepdMercedes Personal Assistant in the Marketing and Communications department. :27 Oct

Mercedes has changed in the break and appears to be dressed like Anna DiMera from Days of our Lives. :27 Oct

She is wearing a black 2-piece evening pants ensemble by Flores & Flores with a rigid blow dried rising Fawcett. :27 Oct

An incredible amount of hairspray quite striking. :27 Oct

Mercedes is now explaining why she has taken on this look. She says that "Time Poor Donors" or "Old People" like to see familiar faces. :27 Oct

She says many "Time Poor Donors" have a unique relationship with Day Time Soaps. :27 Oct

She then goes on to say, choose a day time soap star you resemble and dress accordingly. :27 Oct

The other alternative is to pick a dress style from the 60s and emulate them. :27 Oct

A familiar look  puts “Time Poor Donors”at ease and helps the mild dementia sufferers  to focus on Inepd International Bequest products. :27 Oct

She warns people not to go overboard and not get into acid rock looks, but to stay with Sonny and Cher or tasteful folk musicians. :27 Oct

Mercedes asks us to refer to the appendices for a list of suitable day time soap characters and TV personalities from the 60s. :27 Oct

Mercedes says that if you can get away with it; a doctors or nurses uniform can be very effective but old folks homes frown on this practice :27 Oct

Now Mercedes has asked everyone to open up a card that was placed under their seats during the break. She asks us to hold the cards up.  :27 Oct

Some cards read: 1."Children don't visit and asset rich" 2. "Children Visit but asset poor" :27 Oct

Other cards are 3. "Children don't visit but asset poor" 4. "Children Visit and asset rich". :27 Oct

Mercedes asks who the primary and secondary targets here. It appears to be a rhetorical question. Sally a fine arts major tries to answer :27 Oct

Mercedes shhs her and and holds her index finger in the air. 1&3 of course. But groups 2 and 4 can play a role. :27 Oct

Asset-less “Time Poor Donors”or old people can still help influence their fellow aged friends to make informed decisions their assets. :27 Oct

Mercedes now asks for volunteers to perform a role play. Sally who works in donor services volunteers. :27 Oct

Mercedes plays an old lady and Sally an Inepd International Donor Bequest Officer. :27 Oct

Mercedes has now put on a grey wig and shawl. She has also clawed her fingers and is bent over in her chair. :27 Oct

By the way I am Gema @InepdMercedes PA in the Marketing and Comms. department. :27 Oct
I am live tweeting Inepd International’s “Time Poor Donors” training session for @InepdMercedes :27 Oct

Mercedes has asked me just to record the dialogue. :27 Oct

Sally: Hello Mrs Old Lady. I'm an Inepd International Donor Bequest Officer and I wanted to talk to you about how you could support Inepd :27 Oct

Mercedes(as old woman): That's nice dear. Come a bit closer, you look like my daughter. She looked just like you when she was a young lady. :27 Oct
Sally: Does she visit often. :27 Oct

Mercedes(as old woman): She passed away a few years ago. :27 Oct

Mercedes(as old woman): We did everything we could. We sold our house and everything so she could have the best treatment. :27 Oct

Sally: That is so sad. I'm very sorry for you. :27 Oct

Mercedes:(sobbing)She was so talented, perfect angel she could never do enough to help people and animals. She worked for charities like you :27 Oct

Sally: Really, she sounded wonderful. A really wonderful person. :27 Oct

Mercedes launches out of her chair throws back her grey wig and shawl and tells Sally that was pathetic. :27 Oct

Mercedes asks what did Sally do wrong. :27 Oct

Gavin an anthropology graduate says that Sally should have terminated the discussion when it became clear “Mrs Old Lady” was asset poor. :27 Oct

Mercedes then asks Sally why she didn’t terminate the discussion. :27 Oct

Sally looks a bit flushed. She says she felt sorry for the old lady and wanted to comfort her a little before moving on. :27 Oct

Mercedes makes the sound of a buzzer(berr berr) and asks Sally to walk to the Inepd Corner of Shame and stand there for 5 minutes. :27 Oct

Sally is visible upset. :27 Oct

I am Gema @InepdMercedes PA in the Marketing and Comms. department. I am live tweeting Inepd International’s “Time Poor Donors” training. :27 Oct

Mercedes now asks for another volunteer. :27 Oct

No one puts their hand up and everyone now is looking at their notes. Mercedes then picks Wayne. :27 Oct

Wayne has a degree in chemistry and is working at Inepd in Donor Services and would like to be a volunteer overseas. :27 Oct

Mercedes tells Wayne now to be old man who is asset poor. Mercedes starts and tells me to just tweet the dialogue again. :27 Oct

Mercedes(Inepd Bequest Officer): Hallo dear, can you hear me(talking very loudly). I’m here to talk to you about Inepd International. :27 Oct

Mercedes: Inepd International does fantastic work all over the world helping poor people. Have you heard of  us. :27 Oct

Wayne(as old man): No are you like Oxfam and the UN. :27 Oct

Mercedes: Yes exactly the same. You know an awful lot about charities! Right do you have children. :27 Oct

Wayne(as old man): Since they put me in here, I never really see them. :27 Oct
Mercedes: Did they sell your house? :27 Oct

Wayne: Yes, they sold everything and now they’ve got a great big house and I’m stuck here in this nursing home. :27 Oct

Mercedes: Oh how terrible sad(Mercedes mobile has just rang with “The Girl from Impanema”). So sorry Old Man I am going to have to take this :27 Oct

Mercedes says:  See how easy that was to get away. You all have voice activated mobile ring tones. Use them. :27 Oct

Mercedes: I said a key phrase “Oh how terrible sad” and my mobile phone automatically rings. :27 Oct

Mercedes: Turn to Appendix D and find some key phrases you can use for your voice activated ring tones. “You must be heartbroken” :27 Oct

Mercedes: “What a terrible loss” “You must miss him” You must miss her” :27 Oct

I am Gema @InepdMercedes PA in the Marketing and Comms. department. I am live tweeting Inepd International’s “Time Poor Donors” training :27 Oct

Mercedes: Sally what are you doing, your 5 minutes are not up, back to your corner and stay in the Inepd Corner of Shame another 5 minutes. :27 Oct

Mercedes: Everyone we have been through this so many times. :27 Oct

Mercedes: You have to stay focussed and make a quick assessment and move on to the next “Time Poor Donor” :27 Oct

Mercedes: Otherwise you can be trapped for days with their stories. Especially if you get caught by a “Time Poor Donor ”who is demented. :27 Oct

Mercedes: Right thanks everyone great work and go out there and be great next week for our Autumn launch. :27 Oct

Mercedes: Remember Autumn is our key time to get new bequests before the winter flu season takes it toll. :27 Oct

Mercedes: One last thing, Sally you can come out of the Inepd Corner of Shame. Come here. :27 Oct

Mercedes now motions to Sally to come closer. She is now hugging Sally. :27 Oct

Mercedes: Sally you learnt so much today. Making mistakes now in training means next week you will do us all proud. :27 Oct
Mercedes: Look at me Sally: Look at me: You are Inepd. You are Inepd. Say it Sally. :27 Oct

Sally: I am Inepd (Sally gives a faint smile).(now Sally has burst into tears, really sobbing poor thing). :27 Oct

Mercedes: Great lets say it all together. We are Inepd. :27 Oct
Everyone: We are Inepd. :27 Oct

Ok that’s it the training is over and I am handing the tweets back to @InepdMercedes. I hope I did Ok. :27 Oct
